Roasted Corn Sandwich - Chillum Cafe
When you have a empty stomach and a full packet, just head towards this cafe.
I was searching for a good cafe to grab some quick bites. After an hour of searching I decided to pay my visit here.
When I opened the door of the cafe, I was greeted by a white laughing mannequin like thing (it was so funny yet creative).
The place was simple and had a pleasant ambiance. The entire cafe was dark themed. They have a hookah bar too (probably the best in Coimbatore).
The cafe had a well curated menu. It had a variety of shakes, smoothies, burgers, noodles, sandwiches and more. I was totally confused on what to order.
With a curiosity, I ordered a CLASSIC MAGGI, ROASTED CORN SANDWICH & OREO BLACKY.
At first they brought the classic Maggi in a pan like plate. As like it's name, the Maggi was classic. Not the best but a classic one. This has to be appreciated. They didn't break the noodle at any point and each and every noodle were lengthy. No vegetables or onions were added. They just cooked the Maggi and added some salt & masala it seems. It was plain but much tasty.
In few minutes the sandwich arrived along with oreo blacky in a white ceramic plate with a bowl half filled with sauce and half with mayonnaise. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. The roasted corn mixed with onions, tomatoes, mayonnaise, cucumbers between the two toasted pieces of breads took me somewhere else. Everything at it's best and the smell too.
Then turned towards the oreo blacky. Took a sip. Oh My God! It was the best thing. The texture of the shake was...I couldn't even explain that. I was able to get oreo chunks in every sip. Everything was perfect. The way they presented was so simple. Blacky was just in a bottle and nothing much.
To be honest, I was not comfortable with the seating. I'm 5.9 feet. The table was short but the sofa was tall. I spent around two hours there. I found this uncomfortable. It's ok if you spend a little time but it will be hard to spend hours.
Out of curiosity I ordered a nutella smoothie. The smoothie was also presented in a bottle. Personally, I'm not much satisfied with it. The taste of banana dominated the smoothie. It was ok.
The total cost was around ₹600, which may sound a bit expensive. But the taste of the food, quality and the ambience worth every penny. A must visit cafe in Coimbatore with your favourite bunch.
